Understanding this cancer
Before treatment is discussed, a hospital establishes what it is treating: imaging to show extent, laboratory tests to show how the body is coping, and pathology to identify the tumour itself. Slides or tissue blocks may be re-examined, and imaging may be repeated on the hospital's own equipment so that measurements are comparable. Bring reports and images together, and keep the dates visible. Diagnostics are a cost line of their own and are often not included in a treatment quotation.
